Dominica - Apply for Citizenship
ProcedureEdit
- Obtain all necessary documents.
- Fill up and submit the application forms along with all other requirements to the Labour Division, Ministry of National Security, Labour and Immigration.
- Once the Honourable Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Labour approves the application the applicant is required to take an oath at the Registry and pay registration fee of EC $2000.00 at the Treasury Department.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Completed application forms (available at the Labour Division, Ministry of National Security, Labour and Immigration). EC $20 stamps for the application forms.
- Letter addressed to Minister for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Labour requesting citizenship
- Police Record
- Birth Certificate
- Four (4) passports sized photos
- Medical certificate including HIV test
- Bank statement/recommendation from banker
- Marriage Certificate
- Two testimonials
- Treasury receipt as proof of payment of application fee
- Recent copy of work/residence permit
- Copy of the bio data page of passport and the pages with date of issue and expiry date
- Oath of allegiance. EC $20 adhesive stamps for oath of allegiance.
Note: Stamps are available for purchase at the General Post Office in Roseau and at its branches.

The Labour Department is responsible for Citizenship and Naturalization, work and residence permits, industrial relations, labour and productivity, recruitment of workers, trade disputes and Trade Union issues.
Citizenship of the Commonwealth of Dominica can be obtained by:
- Birth/parentage
- Marriage
- Virtue of residence

Citizenship represents the link between a person and a state or an association of states. Possession of citizenship is normally associated with the right to work and live in a country and to participate in political life.

The work of the Labour Division is governed by the Labour Standards Act Chapter 89:05 of the Revised Laws of Dominica. The Department is headed by the Labour Commissioner (Mr. Matthew LeBlanc) assisted by the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Labour Officers and other support staff.
