How to apply
- You should visit the Ministry of equipment and transport, Directorate of Mines and Road Safety office near you and approach the service desk and express your interest.
- Fill out the Vehicle registration declaration form and attach the supporting documents (listed below under "Required Documents") and submit them to the attending official for verification and processing.
- Pay the required fees, upon which you will be issued with a receipts/acknowledge slips.
- If the authorized official/Register is satisfied that all the documents are in order and all the required fees payment made, you will be issued with the vehicle registration card within 2 to 3 days.
Note : If the vehicle was purchased by a dealer in the Republic of Djibouti, the latter takes care of the vehicle registration procedure

Required DocumentsEdit
If the vehicle to be registered was imported from abroad, the documents to be supplied are:
- Certificate for vehicle registration (AIV) issued by customs
- Customs-issued receipt
- Interpol certificate issued by the Police
- Applicant's national identity card/Passport
In the case of registration of a used vehicle, the documents to be supplied are:
- Certificate for vehicle registration (AIV) issued by customs
- Customs-issued receipt
- Interpol certificate issued by the Police
- Applicant's national identity card/passport
- RAD (Régie Auto de Djibouti) issued after the technical inspection of the vehicle

FeesEdit
- The costs of the gray card
- 3 stamps of 1000 DJF
- 2000 DJF to obtain the INTERPOL certificate
- 450 DJF for vehicle registration declaration forms (Imprimerie Nationale)
- Addition fees plus the above fees for used vehicles 10,000 DJF for RAD
NB:
- The cost of a gray card depends on the car horse power i.e. 1 horse = 4500DJF
- The cost of the technical control is 3000 DJF for a taxi and 4000 DJF for a Bus.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- All vehicles either new or used are required to be registered by the Directorate of Mines and Road Safety, so as to prove ownership and be able to operate in Djibouti legally.
- The Registration Book is issued to the car owner later by the Registrar. However, if the motor vehicle is bought on credit, the Registration Book will show joint owners and it will be released to the financier who will retain it until the loan is repaid. The transfer will then be affected to remove joint ownership. The dealer will obtain from the vehicle buyer the necessary information and documents for the motor vehicle registration.
