Procedure

If you have lost your code card, you must revoke it immediately in order to prevent others from using it.

1. To revoke your code card, log on with your NemID user ID and password (click on the link to apply for the procedure). Revoke code card - link
2. After revoking your active code card you can now order a new one at the Self-service page. You must identify yourself using your Danish passport or driving licence. Here's the link to order new code card.
   Log onto the page using your NemID User ID and your password. Note: You cannot order a code card, if you already have an active code card (need to revoke it first, step no. 1).
3. The code card will be sent to you by post. If you need it right away you can collect a new code card at citizen service centre or contact your bank. Find nearest citizen service center in your area

Required Documents

Valid ID

• You may present any of these valid (not expired) photo identification:
  • National driver’s license issued in an EU/EEA Member State, Greenland or the Faroe Islands
  • Passport issued by a public authority in your home country
  • Military ID card (from Denmark)
  • NATO passport
  • Police ID card (from Denmark)
  • Residence permit with photo issued in Denmark
  • Danish banks’ ID card
  • National ID card with photo issued by a public authority in your home country and which can be used as a travel document in Schengen states.
  • Note: If your CPR-number does not appear on the chosen picture identification, it is required that you bring identification where your cpr-number appears.
• If you do not have any identity card with photo in it, you must bring two other types of ID, one of which must hold your CPR number: You can identify yourself with a combination of at least two of the below mentioned types of identification:
  • Person-, birth- or name certificate
  • Health insurance card or certificate of residential address
  • Latest annual statement or preliminary income statement from SKAT (Danish Tax and Customs Administration)
  • Documentation of receipt of public benefits (dating back no further than three months).
  • Note: at least one of the ID cards must be your health insurance card, certificate of residential address, or birth or name certificate.

Eligibility

You can apply for a NemID if you:

• Have a Danish CPR number
• Have reached the age of 15
• Are able to meet the ID requirements.

No need for you to be a Danish citizen to request NemID. You can obtain NemID if you have a Danish residence permit or study in Denmark.

If you are under the age of 15 or do not have a Danish CPR number, you can only obtain NemID for online banking, if your bank offers this service.

Instructions

Having a NemID will allow you to log-in on the internet securely. Once you have a NemID, you can use it on most computers with an Internet connection. It is very easy use, you just need to remember only three things: Your user ID, password and code card.

You will be the one to choose your own user ID and password – which you must remember – and the code card is a little piece of card about the size of a credit card which you need to look after carefully. You can also take NemID with you and use it on other computers.
