Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To apply for renewal of Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) in Daman and Diu the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

7. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
8. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
9. Important verification’s for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built, seating arrangements etc... will be carried by authorities.
   
10. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.
    
    

Apply Online:

1. To renew a tourist vehicle permit (Jeep/Omni/Car)the applicant shall use the following link : Link and select the “Permit Online” option under Other online Services.
2. Select state as Daman and Diu under the list of states in the drop down menu and click “proceed”.
3. Please follow the on screen instructions and fill in prompted details to process the online procedure.
4. Upload required documents and take a printout of the acknowledgement slip.
5. On the appointment date, go to the RTO office before 11:30 am and submit the documents to the officer at the office. He will mark the amount needed to be paid at the respective counter.
6. Pay the fees and submit the document at the counter.
7. Authorities will process the application further.
8. Obtain the permit from the concerned office.

Validity

Tourist vehicle permit shall be valid for...

• 9 years in the case of a motor cab (passenger not exceeding 6 excluding driver)
  
• 8 years for vehicles other than a motor cab
  
• unless the motor vehicle is replaced
  
• In case of a vehicle covered by a tourist permit is proposed to be replaced by another vehicle, the new vehicle age should not be more than two years
  

NOTE: The period [9 years or 8 years] shall be computed from the date of initial registration of the motor vehicle.

Instructions

Applicants may approach the Office of the Deputy Commissioner / Chairman (STA) who is in charge of issuing and renewing of Tourist Vehicle Permits.

Need for the Document

• The vehicle permit should be renewed as and when it has expired or about to expire in order to use the vehicle for tourist rental purpose
  
• As per Central Motor Vehicle Rules of 1989, Tourist Vehicle Permit is granted to owners whose vehicles are used for tourism purposes.
  
• Tourist Vehicle Permit (Jeep/Omni/Car) is needed for a tourist vehicle operator for the vehicle to carry passengers on a rental basis from one place to another
  
• This motor vehicle are constructed or adapted to carry allowed number of passengers as per permit, but not more than the allowed number of passengers, excluding the driver for hire purpose
