Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Goods Carriage Permit in Daman and Diu the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

  6. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  7. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  8. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  9. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built arrangements etc... will be carried by authorities.
  10. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.

Apply Online:

  1. To apply for goods carriage permit, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
  2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
  3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
  4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
  5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
  6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply for a goods carriage permit in Daman & Diu, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
  2. Procure the mandatory application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the permit.
  3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
  4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
  5. Make the requisite payment required for the process (if applicable).
  6. Now, submit the application to the office of the concerned centre and obtain the acknowledgement slip.
  7. After successful verification, the goods carriage permit will be granted by the concerned authority.
  8. Obtain the permit from the concerned CSC centre by showing the acknowledgement slip.

  3. Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
  4. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
  5. Insurance Certificate.
  6. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
  7. Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
  8. Passport size photo-2
  9. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
  10. Pollution under control certificate
  11. Proof of Address (any one of the following to be produced)

  • The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years

  • Fee for Application Form : Rs.100
  • Fee for Grant of permit : Rs.100
  • Fees vary with the type of vehicle applied for.
  • Fees related information can be obtained directly from respective RTO

ValidityEdit

  • Permit is usually valid for 5 years
  • The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  • The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

Need for the DocumentEdit

  1. A Regional Transport Authority may, on an application made to it under Rule 174 (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 grant a goods carriage permit to be valid throughout the State
  2. Goods Carriage Permit is issued to an applicant to use his motor vehicle for the carriage of goods for hire or reward or for the carriage of goods for or in connection with a trade or business carried by the applicant. In general, there is no restriction for grant of permits to goods vehicles.
  3. Vehicles with this permit……
    • Be used only in a specified area or on a specified route or routes
    • That goods of a specified nature shall not be carried
    • That goods shall be carried at specified rates etc.;
  4. The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
  5. Goods Carriage National Permit means a permit granted by authority to a goods carriage vehicle to operate through-out India or in such States not being less than four in number including the states in which the permit is issued
