Czech Republic - Surrender Your Driver License

ProcedureEdit

1.) When surrendering a DL or IDL, you must have with you your identification document and the DL or IDL. In the case of the making of a Driving Entitlement(s) conditional, or in the case of it being limited, you must also present one colored or black-and-white ID document-type photograph, in the format of 35x45 mm.

2.) When a DL or IDL is surrendered, the appropriate municipal authority of a municipality with delegated powers, or of the town hall of a city in the Czech Republic, shall issue a document on the surrendering of a DL or IDL.

3.) If the applicant fails to adhere to the obligations prescribed, he/she may be sanctioned pursuant to Act no. 200/1990 Coll., the Offence Act, as amended.

EligibilityEdit

The person authorized to act in this matter is the holder of a DL or an IDL, whose DL is invalid, or whose Driving Entitlement(s) has/have been made conditional, limited, or withdrawn.

In the case of the death of a holder of a DL or an IDL, the surviving relatives or the persons charged to deal with the estate of the deceased, must surrender the DL or IDL, without undue delay.

InstructionsEdit

The holder of a DL or an IDL must surrender his / her DL or IDL to the appropriate section of the municipal authority of a municipality with delegated powers, or to the town hall of a city in the Czech Republic, within 5 business days from the date when a decision making conditional, limiting, suspending, or withdrawing, a Driving Entitlement(s), takes legal effect.

Need for the DocumentEdit

One of the responsibility of a driver to the state and also to the public is the acquisition of a driving license and keeping it. Possessing one will prove that he is fit mentally and physically to drive on public roads. Unfortunately there are circumstances when one must surrender his for various reasons, it may be legal or sometimes due to medical conditions.
