ProcedureEdit
- Go to the Ministry of Interior office.
- Fill out an application form. You can download the form here Application Forms.
- Submit required documents.
- If approved by the MOI, the office will contact you by telephone and arrange a date for picking up the permanent residence permit and providing biometric data. If it is not possible to contact you by telephone, you will be asked to pick it up in writing at the contact address that you gave in the application.

- For an EU citizen, the certificate of temporary residence is not a condition of their stay in the Czech Republic, therefore it is up to them whether they request this certificate be issued or not.
- The requirements for the application shall not be older than 180 days except for the travel document, birth certificate, marriage certificate and the photograph of the foreign national if it corresponds to his/her actual appearance.
- Always submit originals or notarized copies of the documents.
- All of the documents submitted must be made out in the Czech language or officially translated into Czech.
- An application for a certificate of temporary residence can be filed at the MOI offices nearest to where you are registered.

A certificate of temporary residence is issued at the request of an EU citizen who intends to stay in the Czech Republic for more than 3 months and has not threatened state security or seriously disrupted public order. Following are the procedures.

- The application is processed without undue delay, within 30 days of initiating the process at the latest.
- In the case of a positive decision, the applicant is invited in writing or by telephone by the MOI office to pick up the certificate of temporary residence.
- At the same time, the MOI issues a personal identity number; except foreigners, to whom a personal identity number was already assigned (including citizens of the Slovak Republic who were born until 1993).
