Applicants living abroad will appear in person to the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic with all the required documents.
Applicant living in the Czech Republic must apply at the passport office

The processing officer will do the following:

  • Check all documents and compare them with data contained in the Central Registry of Citizens and Travel Documents,
  • Print out the filled-out application containing all required data including. The photograph and request the applicant to sign the application and scan the signed application,
  • Signature of the applicant serves as confirmation that all data are correct and as an agreement with the issuance of the passport,

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Czech Birth Certificate,
  • Czech Marriage License (married and divorced women only),
  • Photograph of passport format (50 x 50 mm, clean, light background, en-face, etc.) complying with the ICAO standards. Photographs not complying with ICAO standards will not be accepted,
  • Czech university degree/diploma (only applicants with an academic title; wishing to have the title inserted in the passport),
  • Administrative fee for the passport issuance procedure,
  • Czech Citizenship Certificate; ID or certificate.
  • Birth Number Certificate; can be found either in the birth certificate, passport, ID or in the document issued by the Ministry of Interior.

EligibilityEdit

All citizens of Czech Republic are eligible however it remains property of the Czech Republic and can be withdrawn at any time



FeesEdit

The fee application fee is 1.200 CZK,



ValidityEdit

Passports is valid for 10 years
Passports of citizens between 5 and 15 years of age is valid for 5 years
Citizens under 5 years of age will be issued passports without biometrics for the period of 1 year.

Processing TimeEdit

The processing time for a biometric passport abroad is 120 days, but in many cases the passport is ready in two months. (Processing time in the Czech Republic is 30 days.)

It is possible to apply for a so-called "flash-passport" without biometric features. This type of passport is issued for six months and the application processing time abroad is 60 days. (Processing time in the Czech Republic is 15 days.)

  • Application cannot be filed at a honorary consulate.
  • Application must be filed by an applicant or by a parent/legal guardian, powers of attorney cannot be accepted.

Need for the DocumentEdit

The Czech passport s issued to Czech citizens, for international travel. The passport is issued by the Interior Ministry (Ministerstvo vnitra), Passports of the Czech Republic contain biometric codification of face and fingerprints.
