PROCESS FOR CITIZENS & NON CITIZENS OF CYPRUS – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN CYPRUS AND OVERSEAS:

- Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office. Please talk to the authority for your requirement. As per authorities advice one has to submit the application along with documents.
- Applicant should pay for the certificate as advised.

EligibilityEdit
- Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
- Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
- The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
- Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

A "Certificate of Good Character" is a police certificate that serves whether or not any criminal conviction is held against an individual.
A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

How the results are presented and security features
If the individual has no criminal convictions a “Certificate of Clear Criminal Record” is issued and the following is written on the certificate:
- The applicant has not had any previous criminal convictions
- Other personal information
If the individual has criminal convictions a “Certificate of Criminal Record” is issued and convictions are listed on the certificate together with the following information:
- Date of offence
- Description of offence
- The sentence that is imposed by the court
- Other personal information
Both types of certificates include:
- A unique receipt number
- A stamp and signature by a police officer
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
A police clearance certificate is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, pcc, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.

The application for a Certificate of Character or Police Clearance should be submitted directly by the applicant to the Chief of Police in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The applicant, however, should complete the application in the presence of the Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Dublin as the Consul has to witness the signature of the applicant.
The application that the applicant will send to the Chief of Police in Nicosia, Cyprus, should be accompanied by the following documents / materials:
- A copy of the pages of the passport that the applicant used when he / she resided in Cyprus.
- A copy of the applicants work permit and / or residence permit for the period that the applicant has resided in Cyprus and for which he / she is applying for Certificate of Character.
- An Application Fee of 17.08. The fee can be sent in the form of cash or in the form of CHEQUE payable to the CHIEF OF POLICE. Applicants who send CHEQUES should ensure that the CHEQUES can be deposited in accounts in Cyprus.
