Cyprus - Convert or Transfer Your Foreign Driver License

ProcedureEdit

1. Fill up the necessary form.

2. Applicants along with all relevant documents must go in person to the District Office Exam Guide for the relevant review and approval of the conversion.

3. The applicant must contact the Head or District Offices of Tom who will issue the license.

Required DocumentsEdit

1. Application for license learner driver (TOM 7B)

2. Two recent photographs sized 40CH35 mm

3. Identification Card (for Cypriot Returnees or Certificate of Alien Registration for foreigners - original and one photocopy)

4. Passport (original and a photocopy of the first page with the details of the applicants)

5. Translation of foreign driving license unless it is in English or Greek language. Translations must be done by the Press and Information Office or the Embassy of the country that issued the foreign driving license (original and a photocopy).

6. Health Certificate, in case the applicant is aged 70 or over or driving license of the applicant are for motor vehicle categories C, C + E, D + E, C1, C1 + E, D1, D1 + E.

EligibilityEdit

Countries whose permits are recognized as equivalent to the Cypriot License, all EU and those included in the notification. Holders of driving licenses from countries included in the notification are obliged to exchange their driving license after a six-month stay in Cyprus. In the case of holders of driving licenses from Member States of the European Union they may decide whether to exchange their driving license after a six-month stay in Cyprus.

Following Directive 91/439/EC, types of licenses being issued in Cyprus are harmonized with those issued in other European Nations. The conversion of foreign driving license happens when a driving license issued abroad is converted to those being issued in Cyprus provided the foreign driving license is an equivalent to those issued in the country.
