Croatia - Replacement of Lost or Stolen Drivers License

For driver's license issued by a Member State of the European Economic Area (EEA) and foreign driver's license (those issued in a country that is not a member of the European Economic Area):

  1. Fill in and sign the application form, your signature will confirm the accuracy of the information printed on the form.
  2. Submit the form along with all other required documents.
  3. Pay all necessary fees.
  4. After filing the request, the applicant must return to the competent authority to pick up the license.


For lost or stolen driver's license issued in the Republic of Croatia and member state of the European Economic Area:

  1. Immediately report the incident to the police administration / police station in whose territory the missing driving license is registered.
  2. Fill in and sign the application form, your signature will confirm the accuracy of the information printed on the form.
  3. Submit the form along with all other required documents.
  4. Pay all necessary fees.
  5. After filing the request, the applicant must return to the competent authority to pick up the license.

Required DocumentsEdit

For driver's license of a Member State of the European Economic Area (EEA):

  • Driver's license issued in the Member State of the EEA
  • One photograph sized 30x35 mm
  • Stamp - 35.00 kn.
  • Proof of payment of the application fee.
  • Proof of identity and appropriate documentation proving that the applicant normally resides in the Croatian territory or educated for at least six months (for review) in a territory of the Republic of Croatia.
  • If the license issued by a Member State of the EEA do not include the date of first issue of each category the applicant is allowed to drive under, then he/she must submit a certificate from a competent authority with these information.


For foreign driver's license (those issued in a country that is not a member of the European Economic Area):

  • First foreign driver's license
  • Translation of the foreign driver's license, in case there is difficulty in determining whether the category the license was issued for allows replacement or it is still valid for the next six months.
  • Medical certificate - not older than six months
  • One photograph sized 30x35 mm
  • Stamp - 70.00 kn.
  • Proof of payment of the application fee.
  • Identification card - if the applicant is not a citizen of the Republic of Croatia, he/she will also need to present proof of identity and a document proving that the person normally resides on the Croatian territory or on the territory of the Republic of Croatian educated at least six months (for review).
  • If the license issued by a Member State of the EEA do not include the date of first issue of each category the applicant is allowed to drive under, then he/she must submit a certificate from a competent authority with these information.


For lost or stolen driver's license issued in the Republic of Croatia and member state of the European Economic Area:

  • The original driver's license issued by a Member State of the EEA, or proof from the competent authority of the state who issued the original driver's license.
  • One photograph sized 30x35 mm
  • Stamp - 50.00 kn.
  • Proof of payment of the application fee.
  • Identification card - if the applicant is not a citizen of the Republic of Croatia, he/she will also need to present proof of identity and a document proving that the person normally resides on the Croatian territory or on the territory of the Republic of Croatian educated at least six months (for review).
  • Report to the competent authority about the incident.


Note:

  • The applicant do not need to submit a photograph along with the application if in the past two years he/she have filed for issuance of electronic documents in which the image is stored in the Information System of the Ministry of the Interior, and there were no significant change in the appearance of the applicant.
  • In cases where the applicant need to use glasses or goggles with anti-reflectie coating or eye cover while driving, application must be accompanied by a photo of the person photographed with glasses or goggles with anti-reflective coating or covering of the eye.

  • Applications are submitted to the police department covering the applicant's area of residence (temporary, permanent or ordinary) or in whose territory the applicant is educated. To apply through the expedited procedure, request must be submitted in the Zagreb Police Department.


For lost or stolen driver's license issued in the Republic of Croatia and member state of the European Economic Area:

  • Applications are submitted to the police department where the applicant has a domicile, ordinary residence or in whose territory the applicant is educated. To apply through the expedited procedure, request must be submitted in the Zagreb Police Department.
