Obtain birth certificate for the first time

  1. To obtain a birth certificate, the birth must be registered first with the local Civil Registry Office.
  2. Informants will need to submit these following documents (for births that are not reported within the legal time limit):
    1. no declaration of birth certificate
    2. photocopy of the CNI of both parents
    3. medical certificate of birth
    4. written request addressed to the president of the Tribunal
  3. Pay the application fee.


Duplicate Copies of Birth Certificate

  1. Copies of a birth certificate can be issued in case of loss, theft or destruction. They can also be issued in case of deterioration. To obtain a certified copy of a birth certificate, go to your local civil registry office.
  2. Do not forget to bring a valid identification. The registry personnel will ask for your ID in order to confirm your identity and make sure that you have the right to obtain the certificate.
  3. When you submit your request make sure that you have provided these important details which will make searching for the record easier:
    1. name on the certificate
    2. date of birth
    3. place of birth
    4. name of the parents
  4. Pay the application fee and wait for instructions from the Registrar regarding when can you comeback to collect the certificate.
