ProcedureEdit

1.Upon arrival in the country, must go to the Department of Aid and Assistance to Refugees and Stateless Persons (SAARA) or at the any office of the partnering organizations for registration. In this case, the asylum seeker submits application together with required documents to an of above offices;

2.The submitted documents are assessed by the officers at the Department of Aid and Assistance to Refugees and Stateless Persons (SAARA) or the office of the partnering organizations and the National Eligibility Commission (NEC). After assessing documents basing on the International Refugee Laws, decision is made and an application is either approved or rejected;

3.When an application is approved, the applicant obtains the status of a refugee and refugee identification documents are issued.

1.Applicant must ensure that the reasons given are a genuine and sound reasons;

2.Those running from home after doing a serious crime against humanity are not be granted asylum;

3.Applicants must not be involved in any war against any other country;

4.Before applying, be aware of the laws, rules and regulations of the country and be ready to comply with them if asylum is granted;

5.If asylum is granted, applicants are argued not to engage in activities that are harmful to the interest of the country;

6.Approved asylum seekers may apply for naturalization in the country;

7.Identification documents are issued to successful applicants fourteen (14) years and above;

Need for the DocumentEdit

Asylum is a form of protection by foreign government extended to foreigners who are running away from home country due existence of insecurity or fear of persecution. Applicants for asylum are seeking refugee status in a foreign country. The issues of refugees in Cte d'Ivoire are handled by the government through the National Eligibility Commission (NEC) and the Department of Aid and Assistance to Refugees and Stateless Persons (SAARA) together with partnering world organizations.

1.Applicants must know that submitted applications are processed with guidance from the international legal provision of asylum;

2.Asylum seeks from member countries of ECOWAS with passports may enter and stay in the court for a period of not more than three (3) months. Thus if they wish to stay longer, they should apply for residence cards.



Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

1.Issued identification document after approval serve as residence permit;

2.The issued identification document allows the asylum seek to move freely in the country;

3.The approved applicant can apply for a work permit;

4.Successful applicants receive free education and medical services; they are free to worship and move free in the country. .
