Procedure

1. Gather all documents listed under 'Required Documents' section.
2. Go to a driver licensing office. Addresses are listed under 'Office Locations & Contacts' section.
3. Submit all required documents and pay the theory exam fee (fees may be paid through a bank, for more details - link).
4. Submit to a health check.
5. Take and pass the theory exam.

Theory Exam:

• Nationals: 5000 mil colones. Banco Nacional, Banco de Costa Rica, Davivienda, Banco Crdito Agrcola de Cartago.
• Foreigners: 5000 mil colones. (B1,B2,B3,B4,A1,A2,A3C2,D1,D2,D3)

Validity

Learner's permit: 3 months
