ProcedureEdit

  1. Applicants must go to the Consulate who has jurisdiction in the area.
  2. Fill in the application form and submit along with all other required documents to the Consulate.
  3. The Consulate will send your request to Costa Rica for approval by the General Directorate of Immigration.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Letter to Consul General explaining the reasons why you do not have a travel document - when, how and where it was lost or stolen passport.
  • Copy of the report of the police report. If he does not extend a report request an assigned case number, name and telephone number of the officer.
  • Identity card
  • Photocopy of valid identity card on both sides. In case of a minor must present a birth certificate.
  • 2 colored photos, passport size.
  • Consular stamps.


If the applicant does not have Costa Rican identity card or passport, he/she must presentto the Costa Rican Consulate, two witnesses and make a sworn statement in his presence. Applicants must also present their birth certificate.

  • $20.00 - payment for consular stamps



ValidityEdit

The pass is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. If within 6 months the pass was not used, it will cease to be valid and a new pass must be obtained.

The pass is valid for a single entry to Costa Rica. Once in Costa Rica the applicant must appear before the Directorate General of Immigration and apply for a new passport.
