China - Obtain Certificate of Origin
ProcedureEdit
- The consigner can apply for the certificate of origin at the local entry-exit inspection and quarantine departments under the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine Administration or the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and its local branches (hereinafter referred to as the "certificate bureaus").
- The consigner of the export goods shall register in the certificate bureaus, accurately report the origin of the export goods as required, and submit the necessary documents required by the certificate bureaus in issuing the certificate of origin.
- After accepting the application from the consigner, the certificate bureaus shall examine the origin of the export goods according to the rules and issue the certificate of origin for the export goods; for the goods that don't originate in the People's Republic of China, the certificate bureaus shall refuse to issue the certificate of origin.

- Certificate of Origin from the originating country of the goods in question, or
- Commercial invoice issued by the supplier in the originating country plus transport documents (bills of lading, airway bills, etc.) or export documents (export permit, export customs clearance permit, etc.) issued by the government authorities in the originating country
- Such other documents as the Chamber may deem appropriate

- Products produced or manufactured entirely within the territory of the People's Republic of China.
- Those products the raw materials and parts used for which are partly or entirely imported and the main and final manufacturing and processing stages of which are conducted within the territory of the People's Republic of China, causing thus substantive change in the products' appearance, properties, form or usage.

Enterprises established according to law within the territory of the People's Republic of China which are authorized to conduct foreign trade operations, enterprises engaging in "commission processing," "sample processing," "commissioned parts assembly" and "compensation trade" and enterprises with foreign investment may, pursuant to their requirements, apply to the certificate issuing authorities to obtain Certificates of Origin.

Need for the DocumentEdit
The Certificate of Origin of the People's Republic of China (Certificate of Origin) is a document certifying that the origin of certain goods being exported is the People's Republic of China, i.e. the goods being exported is either a natural product of China or a product that has undergone its main and last manufacturing or processing in China, which makes a substantial transformation in the shape, characteristics, form or applications of the main raw materials used.
Information which might helpEdit
- Applications submitted to the Chamber must be signed by authorised official of the factory and by the exporter concerned
- The manufacturer must be currently registered with the Trade and Industry Department.
- Applications must be submitted at least two clear working days in advance of the advertised departure date of the vessel concerned
- Certificates submitted to the Chamber must be signed by an authorised official of the exporter concerned
