PROCESS FOR CITIZENS & NON CITIZENS OF CHILE – FOR BOTH WHO LIVE IN CHILE AND OVERSEAS:
- I. Apply in Chile
- a. Apply in-person with your “RUT” or your “RUN”

- Applicant shall apply in-person at office of the Registro Civil e Identification to obtain PCC. The RUT is thus your Chilean tax ID number, while the RUN is your civil register ID number.

- Go to the respective office. Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
- Application forms can be obtained from the respective office on visit.
- Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
- This application will be processed by respective department.
- The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in-person upon notification or issued as per norms.
- Note:
- Those who are unwell can apply through representative.
- The representative should apply with the following documents

- Applicant shall enter the “RUN” details and password as prompted and hit the authenticate button to reach the next page for applying online.
- If you are a new user, then use the respective option to get the credentials by registering and then authenticate.
- This application will be processed further.

- III. Applying process – overseas
- a. Apply at Chile embassy or consulate in-person
- Applicant can apply at their nearest embassy or consulate in person. Link to locate the embassy or consulate: consulate List
- Application form can be obtained from the embassy or consulate.
- Call the office and fix appointment for personal visit. Also find out the details for this procedure.
- On the scheduled date, go to the office with all the document in original and in copy. Please follow as per officer guidelines to process your application.
- This application will be processed by the respective department. The completed certificates are forwarded to the concern.
- Applicant shall collect the certificate with the respective office upon notification or can get it delivered as per norms applicable.

EligibilityEdit
- Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
- Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
- The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
- Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

InstructionsEdit
Chilean citizens who apply for police certificates in Chile must do so in person at the Civil Registry and the certificate is delivered immediately. In Santiago, the Civil Registry is located at Huerfanos 1560, and the business hours are Monday through Friday from 08:30 to 15:30. Applicants must carry their valid Chilean Identification Card (Cedula Nacional de Identidad).
Chilean citizens abroad may apply through the nearest Chilean Consulate, which will forward the application to the Civil Registry. Foreigners resident in Chile who have a Chilean Identity Card follow the same procedures as Chilean citizens. There may be a fee for this service.

Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
The Service provides the following certificates and background reports pursuant to Article No. 12 of Presidential Decree No. 64 of the Ministry of Justice, 1932:
- Type A): To operate a motor vehicle.
- Type B): For applicants to join the Public, Local Government, semifiscal, institutions of self-government, Armed Forces, Police, Prisons Research and Services.
- The type A and B certificates are awarded directly to institutions that request.
- Type C): For particular purposes.
- Type D): For special purposes (when specifically requested to do so in any institution for a particular procedure or management).
- The type C and D certificates are issued only to the owner, or an agent with power of attorney for this purpose or general mandate to contain such power.
