Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicants must visit the offices or sub-offices of Department of Fisheries in your respective districts to apply for “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration”. Contact Link Visit the link and Click on “Contacts”.
  2. Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration” form from the office of fisheries.
  3. Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
  5. Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
  6. Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.
  7. The verification officer after validating the application form and the documents will provide you with an acknowledgement/receiving slip.
  8. Collect the acknowledgement/receiving slip and keep it safe for future reference.
  9. Next, you will get a call from the Fishery Officer/Authorized Officer for technical inspection of the fishing craft or vessel.
  10. The authorities will arrive at the site on the said date and time to inspect the fishing craft or vessel.
  11. After the inspection, the concerned authority will forward the inspection report to the verification officer.
  12. If the verification authority is satisfied with the report then the registration certificate will be processed.
  13. Once it is processed, and the registration certificate is ready, the applicant will receive an SMS or call on the registered mobile number to collect it.
  14. The applicant will be required to carry the acknowledgement/receiving slip along with them when going to collect the registration certificate from the office or sub-office of the Department of Fisheries of their respective district.


Apply In-Person (Via Port of Registry)

  1. Application for the registration of the fishing craft or vessel can be made to the Registrars of the Indian fishing boat appointed by the Government of India at the ports of registry nearest to the place where the craft or vessel owner resides or where the fishing boat is built or based. [Refer to the “Office Location and Contacts” section of the page for the address details.]
  2. Government of India has notified the following ports as the port of registry: Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Cochin and Mormugao.
  3. Collect the “Fishing Craft or Vessel Registration” form from the office of the registrar.
  4. Now complete the form with the necessary information and make sure you have all the documents in hand that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. After filling the form, attach the documents mentioned in the “Required Documents” section below with the completed application form.
  6. Check the application form and then submit it to the concerned authority.
  7. Now pay the required application fee to the concerned authority.

Apply Online:

  1. To Register a Fishing Craft or Vessel, the applicant has to visit the following link: Link
  2. Enter login credential if already a user under the “Vessel Owner Login”,otherwise, click on the "Not Register?" button and enter the vessel owner's name and mobile number.
  3. Now, hit on the "Register" button to proceed further.
  4. On successful login, fill in all the details and click on the "Submit" button.
  5. On completion, download the acknowledgement receipt/e-license.
  6. Procure the original license from the concerned office.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To Register a Fishing Craft or Vessel, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
  2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the process.
  3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
  4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
  5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
  6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre.

InstructionsEdit

  • Before applying for the registration certificate of the fishing craft or vessel, the owner shall decide a name for it. If the name proposed by the owner is the same or similar to any other Indian Fishing boat that is already registered at the port of registry, the registrar may ask the owner to suggest some other name under which the fishing boat may be registered.
  • It is mandatory to paint the name of the port of registry, the registered name of the fishing vessel and the official number of the fishing vessel mentioned in the registration certificate on both quarters of the fishing craft or vessel near the stern.
  • It should be written in English, Hindi as well as in the regional language in white colour against a black background.
  • The font size shall be such as the registrar may determine in each case but shall not be less than one decimetre in height and two centimetres in width.
  • The names and the official number shall also be painted on the dinghies attached to the fishing boat.

  • The government of India provides various aids to the fishermen and their families which can be availed only by having the registration certificate and license of fishing craft or vessel.
  • The government of India provides various upliftment programs such as education quota, employment opportunities, and various welfare schemes to fishermen and their families on the basis of the registration certificate and license of fishing craft or vessel.
  • The government of India also provides subsidies to fishermen having the registration certificate and license of fishing craft or vessel.

  • Where an application for the registry of an Indian Fishing boat is pending before a registrar of Indian fishing boat due to certain circumstances and the registrar is of the opinion that the fishing boat should not be detained at the port till the issue of the certificate of registry, he may issue a provisional certificate of registry.
  • The validity of the provisional certificate of registration is three months from the date of issue. However, if the registrar finds that in the circumstances of the case, it is necessary to extend the validity of the provisional certificate, he/she may extend it for a further of two months.
