Procedure

• A Character Certificate is an official document issued by the respective department authorities which states whether a person has any previous convictions recorded against him/her.
  

Apply In-Person :

1. Applicant shall approach their area police station. Consult with them for your requirement to obtain the character certificate. Based on their advice, please approach the respective office and apply.
2. Usually applicant must apply in prescribed application form along with required documents to the local Police station.

4. Please go to the respective office.
5. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used
6. Submit the completed application along with required documents.
7. Authorities after checking the attached documents and application submitted will make entries and provide you record number for reference.
8. This application will be processed internally. Respective authorities will do the ground level verification in the residing area of the applicant followed by scrutiny of the documents and details provided by the applicant.
9. Once the verification is over, these officials will submit their report to the respective authority to decide and issue the Certificate to the applicant.
10. Applicant will get the certificate as per notified period after due verification.

Apply online:

1. To Obtain a Character Certificate, the applicant shall visit the website in the link provided:Link
2. The applicant shall log in through the web portal mentioned under the "Login" option and provide the required information for the process.
3. After login, the applicant shall click on “Character Certificate” to proceed further.
4. Now the applicant shall fill up the application form with all the necessary details on a newly opened page and complete the given application form.
5. The applicant shall upload scanned copies of all the "Required Documents" for further processing.
6. Once the documents are uploaded, provide the mobile number and enter the received OTP.
7. Now click on "Submit" and complete the process.
8. On successful verification, the certificate will be issued by the authority.
9. Obtain the certificate from the concerned office or the portal.

Apply through Centres:

1. To Obtain character certificate, the applicant shall visit the nearest CSC/Tehsil Centre. Find contacts to CSC centres in the link provided:Link
2. Procure the application form from the concerned centre and fill it up with the necessary details required for the process.
3. Make sure to attach all the "Required Documents" along with the application form before submission.
4. Provide authorized signatory and photograph, wherever applicable.
5. Now submit the application to the office of the concerned centre.
6. On successful verification, the applicant will be notified by the CSC centre
