Apply Online:

  1. To Apply for Food and Beverage Retail License, the applicant can make the application online via the FOSCOS website or tap the following link
  2. The applicant must scroll down and click the “Apply License/Registration” menu
  3. Then the applicant must select their respective state from the drop-down menu where the premises is located for which License/Registration will be obtained.
  4. Next, select the type of Business, Now Select the annual turnover of the business. After that Click on the “Proceed” tab.
  5. On the next page, click on “Click here to apply License for all Businesses.”
  6. The Next Form page will be displayed, fill in all the required information under the premises details section and click on the “Save & Next” tab.
  7. On the Production selection page, fill in all the details for DGFT Authentication and Click on “Proceed with DGFT validation” to authenticate the details.
  8. Next Click on “Save” to save the authenticated details. After Successfully Proceeding with DGFT validation, click on “Save & Next.”
  9. Next, fill in all the Communication details and click on “Save & Next.”
  10. Under the required documents section upload all the relevant documents and click on “Save & Next.”
  11. Next, pay the fees and click “Submit” in the application. The fees details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
  12. After Successful Completing the payment, a receipt will be generated with a 17-digit reference number make a print of it, and keep it safe for future reference.
  13. The Applicant can track the application through the home page.
  14. This application will be processed by them and they will notify the applicant through his/her e-mail or by SMS.
  15. The office will come for a site inspection to check the quality of the product.
  16. Once the verification and inspection process get completed, the applicant will get the permit through the post.
  17. This entire process can be completed within 4 – 5 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.


Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Food and Beverage Retail License, the applicant must approach the Commissioner of Food Safety link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant must fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant must attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant must pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority. The fees details are mentioned in “Fees” section of this page.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  11. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  12. The office will come for a site inspection to check the quality of the product.
  13. Once the verification and inspection process get completed, the applicant will get the permit through the post.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 4 – 5 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.


Apply through App:

  1. The applicant willing to apply for Food and Beverage Retail License must download the mobile app Food Safety Connect App.
  2. The applicant can download the app from the play store using the following link
  3. To download the app, click the “Install” button.
  4. Once downloaded, the applicant must click the button “Apply for the license” on the main page.
  5. Then the applicant has to select their respective state from the drop-down menu where the premises is located for which License/Registration will be obtained.
  6. Next, select the type of Business, Now Select the annual turnover of the business. After that Click on the “Proceed” tab.
  7. On the next page, click on “Click here to apply Central License for all Businesses.”
  8. The Next Form-B page will be displayed, fill in all the required information under the premises details section and click on the “Save & Next” tab.
  9. On the Production selection page, fill in all the details for DGFT Authentication and Click on “Proceed with DGFT validation” to authenticate the details.
  10. Next, click on “Save” to save the authenticated details. After Successfully Proceeding with DGFT validation, click on “Save & Next.”
  11. Next, fill in all the Communication details and click on “Save & Next.”

Required Documents for Basic FSSAI Registration:

  • Authorized person address proof
  • Passport size photo
  • Business name and address
  • Fassi declaration form
  • Nature of business details


Required Documents for State FSSAI License:

  • Rental Agreement of Business Premises.
  • ID Proof of the Concerned Person (Aadhaar Card / Driving License / Passport / Voter ID)
  • If any Government Registration Certificates (Company Incorporation Certificate / Firm Registration / Partnership Deed / Pan card / GST Registration Number / Shop and Establishment Registration / Trade License)
  • If the applicant is private limited company or partnership firm then they should provide MOA & AOA or Partnership deed copy
  • For applying State License any One of the following certificates is compulsory (Trade license, Shop and Establishment Registration, Panchayath License, Corporation License, Municipality License)
  • Nature of Business.
  • Fassi declaration form


If the applicant is applying for Manufacturing /Re-packer category please arrange below other documents:

  • Manufacturing unit photos
  • Plant Layouts.
  • Machinery details use for production in the applicant’s company letterhead (Capacity & Horse Power details)
  • Product details in company Letter head.


Required Documents for FSSAI Central License:

  • Rental Agreement of Business Premises.
  • ID Proof of the Concerned Person (Aadhaar Card / Driving License / Passport / Voter ID)
  • If any Government Registration Certificates (Company Incorporation Certificate / Firm Registration / Partnership Deed / Pan card / GST Registration Number / Shop and Establishment Registration / Trade License)
  • If the applicant is private limited company or partnership firm then they should provide MOA & AOA or Partnership deed copy.
  • IE Code (Import Export Code) Certificate. (for the category of export and import IE code is compulsory)
  • Authority letter from the company letterhead to the concerned person stating that he is authorized to file FSSAI application.
  • List of food category desired to be manufactured (In case of manufacturers).


If the applicant is applying for manufacturing category, please arrange below other documents:

  • Manufacturing unit photos
  • Plant Layouts & Product details.
  • Machinery details use for production in the applicant’s company letterhead (Capacity & Horse Power details)
  • In case if the applicant’s business in to mineral water plant then water test report compulsory.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any Indian citizen above 18 years of age
  • FSSAI Registration: This is the basic level of license and is required for businesses with an annual turnover of less than ₹12 lakhs.
  • FSSAI State License: This is the next level of license and is required for businesses with an annual turnover of ₹12 lakhs to ₹20 crores.
  • FSSAI Central License: This is the highest level of license and is required for businesses with an annual turnover of more than ₹20 crores.

ValidityEdit

  • The FSSAI License / Registration will be issued for 1 to 5 years, as chosen by the Food Business Operator, from the date of issue of registration or license. The FBO must apply for renewal 30 days before the expiry of the current request.
