  1. If at any time if the local taxi permits owner demise, the legal heir has to apply for transfer of the permit
  2. To transfer local taxi permit in Chandigarh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices.
  3. Make sure you have completed application Form for transfer of Local taxi permit
  4. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees
  5. The applicant should make sure they are eligible by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
  6. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  7. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  8. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  9. After the verification of documents and relevant queries, Authorities will process their official recordings.
  10. If the licensing authority is satisfied with your application, the transfer of the permit will be processed

  • Registration Certificate, Fitness Certificate, Insurance Certificate.
  • Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
  • Death Certificate in relation to the permit holder.
  • Copy of the letter in which the death of the permit holder was intimated to the competent Authority.
  • An affidavit to the effect that other members of the family do not have any objection for the transfer of the vehicle and the permit in respect thereof to the applicant, duly attested by a notary should be submitted.
  • Payment of green tax wherever applicable.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Taxi Permit means a document issued by a Transport Committee authorizing the use of a transport vehicle as a private carrier / public carrier
  • The business of renting of motor cabs to persons desiring to drive either by themselves or through drivers need to get the Taxi Permit and need to be renewed as per the validity period
  • Based on the capacity of the vehicle the number of passenger eligible to board varies as 4 passenger + 1 driver, 7 passenger + 1 driver etc.
  • The need for transferring local taxi permit arises with the demise of the owner of the permit. The legal heir has to apply for transfer of the permit.
