Apply In-Person

  1. If at any time a local taxi permit is lost or destroyed or become illegible, one has to apply for the Duplicate one
  2. To obtain duplicate Local Taxi permit in Chandigarh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices.
  3. Make sure you have completed application Form of Duplicate Local taxi permit
  4. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees
  5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down under the “Required Document” section of this page.
  6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, seating arrangements etc., will be carried by authorities.

  • Usually local taxi permit is valid for a period of 5 years from the date of issue and eligible to use throughout the State.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Taxi Permit means a document issued by a Transport Committee authorizing the use of a transport vehicle as a private carrier / public carrier
  • The business of renting of motor cabs to persons desiring to drive either by themselves or through drivers need to get the Taxi Permit and need to be renewed as per the validity period
  • Based on the capacity of the vehicle the number of passenger eligible to board varies as 4 passenger + 1 driver, 7 passenger + 1 driver etc.
  • One has to get the duplicate copy of the permit lost, stolen or damaged

  • It is advisable to go to the Regional Transport Officer / State Transport Authority between 9:00am to 5:00pm.
  • FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
