- Properties in Chandigarh are liable to pay property tax to the Municipal Corporation
- Both Residential, Commercial, industrial, institutional, government Properties and vacant land situated within the limits of MC are assessed for Tax and all those assessed are expected to pay the Property Tax.
- The tax for the assessment year shall be paid by the 1st April to 31st of May of that particular year.
- Anyone undervaluing the property would be penalized.
- In case of late payments done by the taxpayer, the interest at the rate of 12% will be charged.
- No tax shall be leviable on Residential lands and Building upto 300 Sq. yards owned and self-occupied

Apply through Paytm
- To Pay Property Tax, the applicant has to download the app from the following link – link
- The applicant has to click the “Municipality payment”.
- The applicant has to select the respective corporation from the list.
- The applicant has to enter the property ID and other minor details and then click the “Get Tax Amount” button.
- Now the amount will be displayed on the screen and click the “Proceed to pay” button.
- The applicant has to select the payment method.
- Enter the payment details and click the “Pay” button.
- The applicant can check the payment summary after the payment gets successful.
- The processing time for this procedure completes within a few minutes.
Apply In-Person
- User will get Tax demand bill along with printed bank pay in slip (for making payment with Bank)
- If the Tax demand bill is not delivered,
- Then use the old Bill or receipt of property tax payment. If this information is not in place, then
- Use the self-assessment form and apply with property id to get the tax assessed at the e-Sampark centre

- Authorities in the counter after accepting the payment will issue a receipt for the tax paid for future reference.
- Payment can be made in cash / DD / Cheque
- Note : Property or house tax shall be deposited at all branches of Oriental Bank of Commerce located In Chandigarh
Apply Online:
- Please make sure you have the property id to pay property tax
- Online portal link for e-sampark: pay online link
- Once you reach the given page, please select Property id option and enter the property id and registered mobile number in appropriate places. Hit Send OTP, to receive the OTP in registered mobile number and provide the OTP received at appropriate place and proceed with screen prompts to reach the next page.
- The new page displays property information and details of tax.
- Please follow the screen prompt and fill in required details and proceed to make payment.
- In the payment page use the respective payment gateway option(Credit /Debit / Net banking) to make the payment.
- Once payment is completed, user will get an acknowledgement for future reference.
- Note:
- User can use House id if house id is provided and follow the screen prompts to complete the payment
- In case your registered mobile number is not added in your property details, please visit Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh Sector 17 office to add your registered mobile number.

Apply through Centres:
- To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
- Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
- The operator will process the application online.
- On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
- The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
- If verified, the license will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

The property tax paid is valid for one year. Every year, you should renew it. (In certain place the tax will be collected for six months too)

- Land owners / Property owners are subjected to pay certain amount to the concerned local government or to the municipal corporation of the concerned area are called as property tax.
- Property tax or 'house tax' is a local tax imposed on owners of an apartment, land and building by the Government. The governing authority of the jurisdiction levies the tax to the owner in which the property is located.
- Property tax clearance is required for most of other service like Water, Sanitary, Electricity connection etc.
- Owners of residential properties are liable to pay property tax to respective department on a specified period of time and has to be paid regularly (period can be 6 months or one year in respect to the state).
- Tax Exemption is applicable for selected citizens / organizations (Educational Institutions, Charitable institutions, Ex-serviceman / In-service man, retired pensioners association, NGO Homes/Teachers Association Buildings) as applicable.

- The information about all the new constructions, existing construction and improvements to the property must be provided to the respective Department of the state to make necessary changes to tax assessment.
