This procedure explains various ways to Cancel / Downgrade Student Visa in Cebu City.

  1. To cancel or downgrade your student visa, you will need to submit an application with the Bureau of Immigration.
  2. Before you go to the office checkout first the list of documents you will need to bring with you when you apply for the procedure. A link is provided under 'Documents to Use' section which you can use to download the checklist.
  3. Once you have completed the application form and gathered all the required documents visit a BI Office.
  4. Present your letter request for downgrading and other requirements.
  5. Obtain a Order of Payment Slip.
  6. Pay the required immigration fees. Do not forget to collect your receipt.
  7. Submit the official receipt with the other requirements for downgrading.
  8. If your application is approved, present passport for implementation.
  9. Claim the passport stamped with the downgraded visa.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Letter request addressed to the Commissioner from the applicant or authorized school representative stating the reason(s) for downgrading and the date of intended departure;
  • Accomplished CGAF (BI Form CGAF-003-Rev 0);
  • Copy of Latest Transcript of Records or Certificate of Grades;
  • School Clearance;
  • Photocopy of passport bio-page, visa implementation page and the pages bearing the latest admission, departure and valid authorized stay; and
  • National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance.
  • 2x2 colored photograph with white background


Submission of additional supporting documents may be required by the Bureau for further verification and evaluation of application.


Notes:

  1. When you submit your documents, make sure that it is arranged in the order as listed in the Checklist of Documentary Requirements (CDR), compiled in a legal size (8½ x 14 in.) folder and submitted within the prescribed period, if applicable.
  2. If the application is filed by an authorized representative, attach a photocopy of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Accreditation Identification (ID) Certificate or an original Special Power of Attorney (SPA) for EACH applicant with a photocopy of a valid government-issued ID of attorney-in-fact.
  3. The original valid passport of the applicant must be submitted to the Central Receiving Unit (CRU) personnel or concerned frontline officer for scanning. Thereafter, it shall be returned.

A customer who still incorrectly dials the old seven-digit number will hear a special announcement saying the format has been changed to eight-digit, for a period of three months after the migration (March 18, 2019 to June 17, 2019).
