Procedure

1. Fill in the application form.
2. Sign the application form and submit along with all other required documents.
3. Pay the appropriate fee.

Required Documents

Obtaining the Card for the first time:

• Birth Certificate authenticated by the Embassy or Consular Service of the country of origin (with the exception of Portugal)
• Two passport size photographs
• Filled up and signed application form

Renewal:

• Birth Certificate authenticated by the Embassy or Consular Service of the country of origin (with the exception of Portugal)
• Expired national identity card
• Two passport size photographs

Replacement of the card in case of loss:

• Two passport size photographs
• Filled up and signed application form
• Statement of Loss of the national identity card (issued by PSP)
• Birth Certificate authenticated by the Embassy or Consular Service of the country of origin (with the exception of Portugal)

• For Urgent Request: 655 ECV

Processing Time

For normal application, it usually takes 2 days for you to receive your ID card from the time you submitted your application. If you opted to submit an urgent request, you will receive your ID card right away.

Instructions

You may submit your application at the National Archives of Civil and Criminal Identification or at the Delegations of Registration Services, Notary Identification (RNI). Check for locations where you can submit your application.

Need for the Document

The National Identity Card is the main identification document in Cape Verde, it can be presented before any body of public administration and private entities.

The identity card contains the cardholder's personal data like full name, gender, date of birth etc. It also bears the holder's photograph, signature and fingerprint.
