Procedure

Apply In Person:

1. To Get Permit or License for Distilleries, the applicant has to approach the Canada Revenue Agency link
2. The applicant has to develop a detailed business plan for the distillery that includes the type of products his/her plan to produce, the equipment will need, and the marketing and distribution strategies.
3. Also, purchase or lease the necessary equipment and supplies needed to operate his/her distillery, including stills, fermentation tanks, barrels, and bottling equipment.
4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
8. Submit all the essential documents along with the completed application form to the office.
9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
11. Then the application will be processed further.
12. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
13. Once the verification process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
14. Ensure that the distillery meets all health and safety regulations related to the production, storage, and handling of alcohol.

16. After completing the inspection process successfully, the applicant will get the permit from the office.
17. This entire process can be completed within 3 – 5 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
