Apply In Person:

  1. To Convert Foreign Airline Transport Pilot License to a Canadian, the applicant has to approach the Transport Canada Office link Canadian aviation college link.
  2. To convert an international airline license into a Canadian airline license, the applicant must complete a license request, and obtain a class 1 medical from a Transport Canada aviation medical examiner.
  3. Before the exam, transport Canada will evaluate your foreign ATPL to determine its equivalence with the Canadian ATPL. the applicant will need to submit a foreign license for evaluation. This process involves comparing the flight experience, training, and examinations with the Canadian requirements.
  4. The applicant may be required to pass written examinations specific to Canadian aviation regulations and procedures.
  5. These exams are designed to assess your knowledge of Canadian aviation rules and regulations.
  6. Prepare for and complete a flight test administered by a Transport Canada-approved examiner.
  7. The flight test will assess your flying skills, including your ability to operate an aircraft under Canadian aviation standards.
  8. Undergo a medical examination conducted by a Transport Canada-approved Civil Aviation Medical Examiner (CAME). The medical assessment ensures that you meet the medical standards required to hold a Canadian ATPL.
  9. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  10. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  11. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  12. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  13. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  14. The fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
  15. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  16. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  17. Once the process gets completed, the applicant will get the license from the office.
  18. This entire process can be completed within 30 - 40 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
