Cambodia - Register a Death
To register birth refers to refers to registration of every born child. Death registration in Cambodia is encouraged to ensure that legal individuality of deceased and to the state or relation or person interested to manage and to protect the interest of the dead person are finished. This registration like any other civil registration done is by the government through the ministry of interior together with partnering world organizations.
A member of family of the deceased, friend, relative or any other person present at the time of death.

1.Report death as soon as you can;
2.Person reporting death must have all required documents;
3.The report must have all the necessary information about the deceased;
4.A reporter is advised to also come with witness as he / she reports death;
5.Death abroad may be reported at any nearby Cambodian embassy;
6.Death can be reported at the authorities where the deceased resided or where burial shall take place or to both;

1.Applicant should start by identifying the nearest registration office.
- This should be either in the area of residence of the deceased or in the area where the deceased shall be buried. (Civil registration officer are availed at every commune / sangkat office)
2.Thereafter go to the identified registration office with proof and report death to the mandated official at commune / sangkat office.
3.Upon presentation of proof of death; information about the deceased is recorded the authorized registration officer;
4.Also thumb print from witness, person concerned and/or reporter may also be taken in the process of registration; and
5.Thereafter a death certificate is issued.

At the province level applicants may visit the Provincial Administration, Provincial Office of Statistic & Civil Registration and at the district level they may visit the District Administration, Office of General Administration and Finance.
