Procedure

1. Complete the appropriate application form. A link is provided under 'Documents to Use' section to download the application form and instructions.
2. Read the forms carefully and make sure that you have provided all the required information.
3. Mail application and payment check or money order to:
   Commission on Teacher Credentialing
   Certification Division
   1900 Capitol Avenue
   Sacramento, California 95811-4213
4. You may check your application status online using the Educator Page on the Commissions website to determine date received by the Commission and calculate the approximate processing time for your application by clicking this link.

Note: Checks/money orders/cashiers checks should be made payable to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing or CTC. The Commission does not accept cash as a form of payment.

Processing Time

Online recommendations submitted through credential program sponsors are usually processed within 10 working days. Typically, all other applications are processed within 50 working days from the date the application was received.

Instructions

Once an individual completes all Credential Requirements for certification in California, he or she may apply for and receive a California teaching credential. If you cannot determine your credential type, you may call or email the Commission's Information Services, or your prospective employer for assistance.
