Procedure

Enrollment for the primary school starts after May 24. The school directors will announce a first ranking. This happens in every single school, there is no centralized ranking or information. Parents that have so far submitted only applications, when the ranking comes out, must bring the original certificate of the completed pre-school group. This means that their child is enrolled. Those who are not accepted into the desired school can wait for 10 days until the Directors declare second ranking vacancies and then bring the certificate.

Eligibility

It is mandatory for every child to enroll in a primary school in the year that celebrates its seventh birthday.

There are no fees for enrollment in the state sponsored primary schools.

There are seven grades to be completed in a Bulgarian primary school .

The choice of the school is made by the child's parents.

Required Information

• Child full name
• Parents full names
• Childs personal identification number
• Date and place of birth of the child
• Permanent address

Need for the Document

Education in Bulgaria is overseen by the Ministry of Education and Science. Full-time education is mandatory for all children aged between 7 and 16. 6-year old children can be enrolled at school at their parents' discretion. Education at state-owned schools is free of charge, except for the higher education schools, colleges and universities.
