ProcedureEdit

  1. Submit a passport issuance application at a diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Bulgaria.
  2. Appear in person at the consular office upon submission of the application.
  3. Pay the required fee.

Note:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may send the passports issued to the relevant diplomatic or consular mission of the Republic of Bulgaria abroad:

  • through its own official channels
  • through a company certified as a carrier of valuable shipments, if the applicant has requested the forwarding via a carrier company services and has paid for that service DHL.

Need for the DocumentEdit

A Bulgarian Passport is an international travel document issued only to citizens of Bulgaria and may also serve as a proof of Bulgarian citizenship.

There are three types of passport: service, diplomatic and regular passports. The service passport is issued to staff of a government entity. Diplomatic passports are issued to high-ranking officials and members of their immediate families. Regular passports are issued to Bulgarian citizens and must be renewed every five years. For non-Bulgarians, it is necessary to become a legal citizen of Bulgaria before obtaining a Bulgarian passport.
