Apply online

1. To apply for a Producer Railway Car online, the applicant has to visit the following Apply online
2. If the applicant already has an account in the website, they can enter the user details in the respective fields and click “Sign in” button.
3. If not, click “producer railway car account” link and proceed. On the next page, select the account type by clicking the drop-down list and click “Save and go to step 2” button.
4. Provide the contact information in the next step and click “Save and go to step 3” button. Create username, password, security questions and answers in the next step.
5. Click “Sign up” button and the information provided by the applicant will be sent to the Canadian Grain Commission for approval.
6. The applicant will be contacted once the application has been approved. When the account creation request has been approved and the account has been created, the applicant can log in using the login details.
7. After logging in, the applicant should locate the applicable option to apply for a Producer Railway Car.
8. Complete the online application form with all the required details and information in the respective fields. Also, upload the required documents (if any).
9. Also, upload all the necessary documents which is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
10. The applicant should pay the non-refundable fee of $31.20 on the website itself, by following the on-screen instructions.
11. Payment can be done by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express) or electronic funds transfer.
12. Upon receipt of the submitted information, the Canadian Grain Commission will assess and verify all the information provided by the applicant.
13. An acknowledgement of the receipt and processing of a complete producer car application will be sent by the end of the next business day.
14. A copy of the credit card transaction and a receipt will be emailed if the car application fee was paid by credit card.

Eligibility

• Producer railway car administrators can apply for a car, on behalf of the producers.
• An administrator must have a license issued by the Canadian Grain Commission.
• The applicant must have a Producer Identification Number.

Fees

• The applicant should pay the non-refundable fees of $31.20 by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, and American Express) or electronic funds transfer.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

Instructions

• The administrators must provide the producer’s email address on the application. Each application must be a distinct order for a single grade of grain going to a particular station and destination.
• Each producer must have a confirmed sale and destination. After the application is completed, the producer will be asked to verify a confirmed sale by email.
• The application must specify which shipping week the producer requires the producer railway car.

Need for the Document

• Producer railway cars are required to ship any grain that is regulated under the Canada Grain Act, directly to a particular destination and provide producers a delivery alternative to the licensed grain handling system.
