Step – 1 Course Completion

  1. Before Applying for a Pharmacy Technician License, the applicant must complete a Pharmacy Technician program from a recognized college or university.
  2. These programs typically take one to two years to complete and include both classroom instruction and practical training.
  3. The education should meet the standards set by the regulatory body.
  4. The applicant has to ensure that the education program meets the specific curriculum and clinical training requirements of that jurisdiction.
  5. Also, the applicant needs to get an experience in the field.
  6. Thereupon the applicant has to complete any required clinical training or internship hours as specified by the regulatory body or college. And document the clinical experience and maintain records.
  7. These rotations provide practical experience in performing clinical procedures under the supervision of experienced technologists.



Step – 2 Examination

  1. The applicant may need to demonstrate proficiency in English or French, depending on the province or territory's official language. This is often done through language proficiency exams like IELTS or CELPIP.
  2. The applicant has to successfully pass the certification examination recognized by the regulatory body or college in their province or territory.
  3. This typically includes completing an accredited program and meeting certain ethics requirements.



Step – 3 License

  1. After completing the exam successfully, the applicant has to approach the respective institution.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  10. The applicant has to undergo a criminal record check or provide a criminal record clearance certificate, as required by the regulatory body or college.
  11. This is to ensure that they have a clean criminal record and meet the standards of professional conduct and safety.
  12. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  13. Once the process is completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  14. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive the License from the regulatory body or college.
  15. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
