British Columbia - Apply for Passport

Apply In-Person:
- To apply for a passport, the applicant will need to visit the nearest passport service-Service Canada centre without an appointment, find contact information under the “Office Locations and Contacts” section of this page. (Walk-in service is not guaranteed, especially on busy days), the applicant can find the nearest centre here Service Canada.
- The applicant will have to download the application form and fill in all the necessary details, the applicant can find the application form under the “Documents to use” section of this page.
- Or download the application form by clicking on the following link Application form.
- The applicant will have to read the instructions at the bottom of the form, on page number 7 before filling it out.
- Fill in the application form with all the relevant information.
- Attach all the necessary documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- If the applicant is applying for a new passport, they will need a guarantor to sign the application (For further information on who a guarantor is, click on the link under “Information which might help”).
- The applicant will also need to include two references in their application form (for more information on who can be a referee, click on the link under “Information which might help”).
- The applicant will have to pay a fee and any other additional fees depending on the service rendered.
- Further information about the fee is mentioned under the “Fee to be paid” section of this page.
- The passport will be generated and depending on the mode of delivery, the applicant will receive their passport within 10-20 days from the submission of the application.
- The applicant must either pick up the passport from the office or have it mailed to them if they choose the pickup service.
Apply Online
To book an online appointment for the service Canada centre, follow these steps:
- Click on the following link
- Select language.
- Enter first name, last name and other details, Select “Passport services” and tick in the “Appointment” box.
- Click on “Submit”.
- The applicant will receive a callback from the centre to confirm the appointment.
Apply By Mail
- To apply for a passport by mail, the applicant will have to download the application form and fill in all the necessary details. Here is the link to the Application form.
- The applicant will have to read the instructions at the bottom of the form before filling it.
- Attach all necessary documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- If the applicant is applying for a new passport they will need a guarantor to sign the application (For further information on who a guarantor is, click on the link under “Information which might help”).
- The applicant will also need to include two references in their application form (For more information on who can be a referee, click on the link under “Information which might help”).
- The applicant will have to submit the application along with original copies of their documents through a certified courier or mail service.

- The applicant will have to pay the fee, fee details are mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
- The applicant will have to pay the fee by filling out the fee payment section of the application form.
- The applicant will receive their passport and original copies of documents through the same mailing/courier service they sent their application form and documents through. (These may come in separate packages).
- The applicant shall receive their passport within 10-20 days from the submission of the application.
Required DocumentsEdit
- Proof of Canadian citizenship
- Birth certificate
- Citizenship certificate (original only)
- A document to support your identity
- Driver’s license
- Health card
- Military ID
- Foreign passport
- 2 identical passport photos; on the back of one of the photos, the photographer must write their name, their complete address and the date the photos were taken.
- The applicant’s guarantor must also sign the back of this photo.
- Extra documents may need to be provided if:
- The applicant has changed their name.
- The applicant is applying for a lost, stolen or damaged passport.
- The applicant wants to update their gender identification.
- The applicant wants to omit their DOB.

EligibilityEdit
- The applicant has to be a Canadian citizen.
- The applicant is 16 years of age or older.
FeesEdit
- Five year adult passport: 120$
- Ten year adult passport: 160$
- The applicant will have to pay additional fees for services rendered service fees.

- The passport is valid for 5 to 10 years.

Processing TimeEdit
- It takes 10 days to receive a passport from a passport office.
- It takes 20 days if the application was submitted at a Service Canada Centre.
- It takes 20 days if the applicant applies through mail or courier.
