Procedure

Apply Online

1. To apply for Money Service Business Registration, the applicant can approach the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). Here is the contact Link
2. The applicant will need to fill out an online pre-registration application form. Click on the following link to the form: Link
3. Enter all the relevant information and click on “Submit”.
4. Once the application form has been submitted, the applicant will be contacted by an officer in 5 days.
5. The applicant will receive an MSB user ID and password, the applicant can use this to log in to their MSB account: Link
6. The applicant will need to fill out an MSB registration form, enter all the relevant information and click on submit.
7. The applicant may need to submit additional documents as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. The applicant does not need to pay any fees.
9. Once the application form is submitted, it will be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
10. The applicant will receive one of the following: a registration approval notice and registration number, reasons why we have denied your registration or a clarification request: Link
11. Once approved, some of the information will be made public and displayed on the FINTRAC website Link
12. It takes a few weeks to process the application.
