- Confirm you meet all EDL requirements.

- Attend your appointment at one of ICBCs designated EDL driver licensing centres to complete your application. EDL Driver Licensing Locations: http://www.icbc.com/driver-licensing/getting-licensed/edl/edl-eic-locations
- Once you receive your enhanced card, activate it online or by phone within 30 days from the card activation date printed on the letter you receive with your card.
Required DocumentsEdit
To prove your identity and citizenship, you need to provide three pieces of acceptable ID:
- a Canadian birth certificate or Canadian citizenship document*
- a Canadian or U.S. driver's license, and
- one piece of additional ID.
Notes:
- When applying for an EDL, a passport is not accepted as proof of Canadian citizenship.
- If your Canadian Citizenship Card has two different names listed, the name that appears under the coat of arms will be the one used for your application.
- Certified true copies of one type of ID only is accepted: a marriage certificate certified by the original issuing government agency.

EligibilityEdit
To be eligible for an EDL you must:
- be a B.C. resident
- be a Canadian citizen
- provide the required documents to prove your identity and citizenship
- be legally entitled to travel outside of Canada (see the entitlement-to-travel questionnaire), and
- be 16 or older.

Processing TimeEdit
- Your interim drivers license is good for 60 days and you should receive your EDL within two weeks of your interim drivers license expiring. If you havent received your EDL card two weeks before your interim expires, please call the EDL Customer Line at 1-866-972-6888.

- To apply for your enhanced driver's license (EDL) or enhanced identity card (EIC), you need to book an in person appointment. Appointments are available at 16 driver licensing locations.
- Booking online
- Book, reschedule or cancel an EDL appointment online: Hours: Available 4 a.m.midnight Monday to Saturday, and 9 a.m.midnight on Sundays.
Note: To book online, you must already have a B.C. driver's license (BCDL), BCID, EDL or EIC. If you have not previously held a BCDL or BCID you need to book by phone.
