Apply In-Person:

  1. To apply for Direct Deposit of Employment Insurance Benefits in person, the applicant has to visit the office of Service Canada nearest to his/her location.

  3. The applicant has to visit the respective Service Canada office and approach the official who is in charge of the Direct Deposit payments.
  4. He/she will direct the applicant to Sign Up into the My Service Canada Account in the office itself.
  5. The applicant should make sure that he/she has all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. With the help of the documents and information, the applicant has to complete the Sign Up process for the Direct Deposit.
  7. He/she can also ask the official in charge to complete the process, by providing the required information.
  8. After completing the process as required, the applicant will start receiving their Employment Insurance benefits payments directly in their bank account through Direct Deposit as applicable.


Apply online

  • Using GC Key
  1. To apply for Direct Deposit of Employment Insurance Benefits Online using GC Key, the applicant has to visit the following link apply online
  2. Visit the link and scroll down to the bottom, then click “Start now” button.
  3. In the page that opens, enter the user details in the respective fields and then click “Sign In” button, if applicable.
  4. Or, click the “Sign Up” button to create an account. Click “I accept” button and type an appropriate username in the next tab.
  5. Click “Continue” button and create a password for the new account in the next tab, then click “Continue” button.
  6. Create Recovery Questions, Answers and Hints on the next page and click “Continue” button. Click “I agree” button in the next page.
  7. In the next page, there will be two options to help verifying user’s identity. Select an applicable option.
  8. Once signed in with GC Key and have verified the identity, the applicant should create their MSCA profile.
  9. Follow the onscreen instructions and complete the profile creation. Proceed to sign in using the Username and Password.
  10. After profile creation, complete the application for the Direct Deposit of Employment Insurance benefits by clicking the applicable button.
  11. Complete the online application with respect to the requirement by providing the necessary details and information.
  12. Once completed, submit the application by clicking the applicable button. After submission, assessment and verification by the respective officials will take place.
  13. Once they find that the submitted information is sufficient, the applicant will be enrolled for the Direct Deposit of Employment Insurance Benefits.
  14. The applicant will start receiving his/her Employment Insurance benefits payments directly in their bank account through Direct Deposit as applicable.

InstructionsEdit

  • The applicants are advised to provide the information required by the officer in the Service Canada office.
  • Banking information of the applicant can be found at the bottom of any cheque for the account in which he/she wants to have their payment deposited.
  • If the applicant does not have a chequing account, they can ask their financial institution for this information.
  • If the applicant has an address outside of Canada, they will only be able to view their address and direct deposit online. It is not yet possible to change the information for foreign addresses and direct deposit online.
  • If the applicant has signed up for direct deposit in the past, they should review their information in My Service Canada Account and update it if necessary. Keeping the direct deposit information up to date ensures that they will get paid as quickly as possible.
