ProcedureEdit

  1. Present required ID at any driver licensing office.
  2. The driver licensing staff will check your Canadian driving record to ensure you meet the Pre-Screen: fewer than 4 offenses that carry penalty point offenses in the past 2 years and no motor vehicle-related Criminal Code convictions in the past 3 years. If you held a driver's license in any jurisdiction other than B.C. in the past three years, you will be also required to provide a three year driving record issued by the authorities in each of those jurisdictions.
  3. Pay the $15 test fee.
  4. Take the knowledge test(s).
  5. Have your vision checked. Answer questions related to your medical health. You must disclose any known medical conditions if they may affect your driving under medical standards. Your medical record may need to be reviewed by the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles before you receive your learner's license.   6. Receive your learner's license if you've passed the knowledge tests, you do not have a medical condition that may affect your driving, and you have passed the pre-screening and paid any outstanding debts or tickets to ICBC.

Cloverdale
Richmond (Ironwood Plaza)
Surrey (Guildford)

Getting your learners license

  • To get your commercial learners driver license, you have to:
    • completed the medical screening, and
    • passed the appropriate Knowledge Test.
  • Later in the licensing process, you will also be required to apply for a driver medical exam to meet medical standards. You are required to have your doctor complete the medical, but not submit your medical history.
