Apply In-Person:
- To Apply for ISSN Code (CBISSN), the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- After submitting the application, the Brazilian ISSN National Center will review the submission to ensure that it meets the criteria for an ISSN assignment. This process might take some time.
- If the application is approved, they will receive an ISSN code for the publication.
- This code serves as a unique identifier for your serial publication and should be included in the publication's metadata.
- This entire process can be completed within 1 - 2 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit
To be eligible for a CBISSN (Brazilian ISSN) in Brazil, you must meet the following criteria:
- The publication must be published in Brazil.
- The publication must be issued at least once a year.
- The publication must be a serial publication, such as a journal, magazine, or newspaper.
- The publication must have an ISSN assigned by the International ISSN Agency (ISSN).
