  1. To Apply for Hazardous Waste Handler License, the applicant has to approach the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) link or Brazilian Environmental Agency (IBAMA) link
  2. Hazardous waste handlers in Brazil are required to attend a training course on hazardous waste management.
  3. The course must be provided by a recognized training institution and cover all the topics required by the regulatory framework.
  4. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  5. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  6. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  7. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
  8. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  9. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  10. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  11. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  12. The competent authority will inspect the facilities and operations to ensure that the applicant complies with the regulatory framework.
  13. The inspection will cover aspects such as the storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste.
  14. If the applicant passes the inspection and meets all other requirements, the applicant will receive the Hazardous Waste Handler License from the competent authority.
  15. The license will allow the applicant to handle hazardous waste legally in Brazil.
  16. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
