- To Apply for a Certificate of Citizenship (certificado de cidadania), the applicant has to approach the Federal Police Brazil – link or National Immigration Council (Conselho Nacional de Imigração) link
- The applicant has to get an appointment to submit the application form by phone.
- The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- The applicant may be required to provide biometric data, such as fingerprints or a photograph, as part of the application process. Follow the instructions provided by the authorities during the appointment.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- Once the application is approved, the applicant will be notified by the authorities. Visit the designated office to collect the Certificate of Citizenship.
- Ensure that the applicant has the necessary identification documents with him/her when picking up the certificate.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
