Procedure

Apply In Person

1. On or before the anniversary date of the expiring of the current single business/trade license, the holder of the Licence is required to renew it at the commercial affairs office at the district or town/city council’s office. District/Town/City Council’s Office Contact Details
2. Applicants are required to collect and complete the Trade License Annual Fee Payment Form. Forms are available for free at the Enquiries Desk at any of the commercial municipality/council offices or directly download it via this link Trade License Annual Fee Payment Form
3. Submit the completed form, attached to the supporting documentation as listed under the “Required Documents “section of this page, to the commercial affairs office within the locality of the business operation for consideration. Any omission of the required information or documents will render the application process incomplete.
4. Upon receipt of the application, the receiving officer will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified.
5. If the officer is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the application for the license, the application file is forwarded to the Business Registration and Licensing department/section for processing and consideration which is within the day.
6. After successful processing of the submitted documents, when all regulatory requirements for approval of the license are satisfactorily met, the Licensing officer shall prepare the renewed license that shall be valid for one year from the date of issue, which indicates the approval scope and limitations.
7. If the license has been approved, the applicant will be notified of the result via mail, phone, or SMS to collect the license from Town or District council commercial affairs offices.
8. Applicants will be required to pay prescribed annual license fees, which is one (1) quarter of the initial license fee.
9. While collecting the license the applicant will be required to produce their identity document and proof of payment of the license fee to be validated by the license dispatch office/section.

• Valid identity document (passport for non-citizens/Identity card for citizens)
• Latest Company Annual Returns form (only where applicable).
• A certified copy of a valid National Identity card (Omang) /passports of directors and shareholders (only if there have been changes to directors and shareholding).
• Proof payment of the annual license fee.

Validity

• The validity of the Business/Trade license shall be valid for one year from the date of issue; unless suspended, revoked, or cancelled by the authority.
