In Botswana Application

1. The application for a Residence Permit for employees shall be made to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship headquarter office housed at the Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs office or the nearest Regional or District Immigration Offices.Ministry Contact details
2. Applicants are required to collect and complete the application form for Residence Permit, available at the Enquiries Desk at any of the immigration offices countrywide or directly download it using this link,Residence Permit Application FormMedical Report Form To be completed and certified by a medical practitioner.
3. The declaration part on the application form should be completed and signed in the presence of commissioner of oath or notary.
4. Submit the duly completed form in all respect, attached with the relevant supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents “section of this page, to the nearest immigration office, Migration and Visa Division. Any omission of this documents will render the registration processing incomplete.
5. Upon receipt of the application file, the immigration officer will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, before registering the file for processing the application.
6. Pay the applicable application fee as mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page, obtain a payment receipt and an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application.
7. The completed application file will then be forwarded to an authorized officer (via designated channels) at the Department of Immigration and Citizenship office in Botswana for evaluation, processing, and recommendation, which is within Thirty (30) working days.
8. After lapse of this processing time, applicants should check the outcome of their application at the specific office where the application was filed and present their passport and the acknowledgment slip to be validated by the immigration officer.
9. If the application was successful a residence permit sticker will be stamped in the passport and the passport will be issued back to the customer.
10. If unsuccessful, the applicant can appeal the outcome and or leave the country
    

Abroad Application

1. Applicants outside Botswana should file the application at the Botswana High Commission or Embassy office in their country with the supporting documentation and express their interest to the consulate attending staff.
2. Collect and complete the application form, available at the embassy office or download it from the embassy website if available.
3. Submit the complete duly completed form in all respect and the attachment and pay the applicable fee at the embassy office and obtain an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application.
4. Upon receipt of the completed application file, it will be forwarded to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship office in Botswana, where the application is reviewed and consideration made, based on the information and documents that have been provided, and if complying; the application will be approved.
5. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of the application via the preferable notification mode by the embassy office where the application was lodged and given further instruction on how to collect the permit.
6. In the case where there is no Botswana High Commission or Embassy in your country, the application for a residence permit should be sent to the below address for processing:

Fees

• The cost to apply for the residence permit is BWP 1500.00 in Botswana.
• For an abroad application please consult with the embassy office.

The Validity of the permit is indicated on the residence permit sticker.
