  1. This service is only accessible to registered users/farmers with the Botswana Animal Identification and Traceability System (BAITS). Applicants should visit [www.baits2.gov.bw portal] and log in with their credentials (Livestock Keeper ID). Applicants without internet connectivity can visit BAITS cafes/agents locate countrywide to apply. Local Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Office location & Contact Details
  2. Interested farmers who are not yet registered with the BAITS system, there should visit the nearest Department Veterinary Service (DVS), district /sub-district Office.
  3. Applicants will be issued with a BAITS User Access Application Form to complete, or directly download it using this link; User Access Application Form
  4. Submit the completed registration form, and attach it to the applicable identity document as listed below to be validated by the DVS registration officer.
    • A valid National Identity Card (Omang) or a Birth Certificate for citizens (Original or certified).
    • A valid Resident Permit and valid Passport for non-citizens (Original or certified).
    • A valid Company Registration Certificate for companies. ​
  5. The agent will upload the information, obtained from the form to the BAIT system, create an account on the applicant's behalf and issue the applicant with his/her login credential {Livestock Keeper ID} to access your account.
  6. Upon login to the BAITS website, locate the application form for “Livestock permit or license” and complete it in all respect, upload all required documents as listed on the site and then click on the SUBMIT tab.
  7. Upon receipt of the application file, the DVS office as selected by the applicant when filling the application will process the request and you will be notified of the outcome as per your preferable mode of notification.
  8. The livestock permit/license will be drawn up, signed, and stamped by the licensing officer and made available to be issued to the applicant at the specific DVS officer where the application was lodged
  9. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document while collecting the livestock License or Permit.

The following are eligible to apply;

  • Registered Livestock Keeper (citizens and non-citizens legally resident in Botswana).
  • Unregistered keepers (Diplomats, Tourists).

ValidityEdit

  • The validity is mentioned on the permit and shall remain valid for that stipulated unless suspended, revoked, or canceled by the Authority
