Apply In-Person

  1. You should contact the Botswana urban and district councils as the issuance of licences has been decentralised to them (check offices below) for more information on how to file the application.
  2. Accurately fill in the application form, which is obtained from the above office or click the link below to download : Application Form
  3. submit the completed form along with the required document (listed below) to the urban and district council’s office where the business is located.
  4. Once these documents have been received, the application will be processed and forward to the Liquor Control Authority for consideration.
  5. You will be notified of the result of the application via mail, SMS, or phone call.
  6. If the liquor licence duplicate has been approved, you can pick up the copy of the duplicate licence from the urban and District Council office upon payment of applicable licence duplicate fees.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Police report indicating the licence has been stolen or destroyed.
  • Photocopy of the licence if available
  • Copy of identification card of the licence holder.
  • Any other document that may be required by the authority

Opening hours are from 07:30 to 12:45 and 13:45 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, except public holidays.

Liquor business owners with a lost or damaged liquor licence.

Duplicate licence fee is BWP100.00

ValidityEdit

The validity period will be the same as indicated on the originally original licences.

The Trade Act and the Liquor Act have provided for the establishment of the Trade Licensing Committees, Control Authorities and the Regional Appeals Boards. The issuance of licences has been decentralised to the Local Authorities.

  • Particulars of the destroyed/lost licence
  • Type of business/licence
  • State Circumstances under which the licence was destroyed/lost
  • Signature of the applicant

Need for the DocumentEdit

A company or an individual whose liquor licences has either being damage, worn-out, lost or stolen are required to report the incident with the police immediately and apply for a duplicate licence, so as to be able to operate the business.
