Botswana - Apply for Vocational Education Training

'Apply In-Person
- To apply for Vocational Education Training, upon advertisement by the Ministry of Employment Labour Productivity and Skills Development, through various advertising media platforms i.e., social media, government gazette, Government website, etc; interested candidates are required to apply during this application opening period every year.
- Applicants are required to collect the following forms and have them completed and endorsed with the relevant person's, APPLICATION FORM FOR APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING, CONTRACT OF APPRENTICESHIP and MEDICAL CERTIFICATE, forms are available for free at the Department of Skills Development (DSD) head offices or the specific training Instruction office that advertised the training or directly download them using these links;
- The completed application forms should be addressed to The Principal; attach to the supporting documents as listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page; and submitted to the specific Institutions that advertised the training opening either by post or hand-delivered in a sealed manila envelope.
- Note: please indicate the name of the program for which you have applied on the envelope.
- upon receipt of the application files, the training institution department responsible will evaluate and process each application based on the information and documents that have been provided.
- Successful candidates will be shortlisted as beneficiaries of the program and notified by the institution either via phone or mail, or post and given further instruction on how to go about with the institution registration process.

- Application form for apprenticeship training
- Three (3) copies of the contract of apprenticeship
- The yellow copy of the medical certificate, form MTTC 3-4-12/87
- Certified copy of National identity card (Omang for citizens)
- Certified copy of passport (for non-citizens)
- Relevant educational certificates
- Special Education Needs Candidates Should attach proof from social services

EligibilityEdit
Requirements for apprenticeship training Education:
- Nationality: citizens and Non-citizens
- Education qualification: BGCSE/equivalent, Junior certificate or standard 7 with a trade certificate or equivalent. In each case, a good knowledge of English is also required.
- Examination: Medical test.
- Age: The minimum age for an Apprenticeship is sixteen.
- Sponsoring company: On-job training apprentice able vocation
- Special Education Needs inclusive
These institutions offer vocational training courses up to certificate level (National Craft Certificate). These trades include:
- Auto Mechanics (AM); Auto Electric (AE); Architectural Draughting (AD); Bricklaying &f Plastering (BP); Borehole Mechanic (BM); Carpentry & Joinery (CJ); Cabinet Making (CM); Chef (CF); Dressmaking (DM); Electrical (EL); Heavy Plant Mechanic (HPM); Instrumentation Mechanic (IM); Maintenance Fitting (MF); Machine Fitting (FM); Panel Beating & Spray Painting (PBSP); Painting & Decorating (PD); Pipe Fitting (PF); Plumbing (PL); Power Plant Operator (PPO); Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic (RAM); Waiter (WT); Welding & Fabricating (WF).

- This program is offered to citizens and non-citizens through Brigades and four Technical Colleges (Maun, Jwaneng, Palapye, and Selebi-Phikwe Technical Colleges).
- The apprenticeship training program assists individuals who would like to participate in vocational training to obtain employment.
- The service also assists companies who wish to hire trainees in vocational courses.
