Botswana - Apply for Tourism “H” Licence – Mekoro(canoe) Activities

Apply In-Person
- One should first contact Botswana Tourism Organisation at (+267) 3913111 or the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS standards) at (+267) 3903200 for more information in regards to provisions of the Tourism Act, Tourism Regulations and the Tourism Policy as well as the Grading Requirements for Hotel and related establishments.
- Application form can be obtained from the Department of Tourism Office near you or download it by clicking the link below : link
- Accurately fill in the form, attach all the required documents and submit them to the tourism office near you either in person or by mail/courier, 3 weeks prior to a scheduled "Tourism Industry Licensing Committee" (TILC) meeting.
- Your application will be verified and processed by the committee, all decision regarding the issuing of the licences will be shared by mail.
- If the committee is satisfied that you have complied with the all conditions as set for the application of the licences, you will be issued the licence by the licences issuing authority upon payment of the licences fees.
Required DocumentsEdit
Please take note and ensure that you provide nine copies of each document below:
- Certificate of Incorporation
- Business plan
- Certificate of Registration.
- Copies of Share Certificates.
- Certified copies of National Identity Card (Omang) of all business partners.
- Title Deed or Lease Agreement or Rental Agreement. (Please note: If the land was acquired for a different purpose other than for the project you wish to undertake you should apply for "Change of Use" or "Planning Permission", from your local authorities or Land Board.).
Details of Vehicle(s) used for Tours, outlining:
- Carrying capacity.
- Registration Certificate.
- Roadworthiness Certificate.
- Please note that all requested certified copies can be obtained by taking a photo-copy of the document to your nearest police station.
