Procedure

How to Apply
Apply In-Person

1. Applicant should visit the Government Employees Motor Vehicle and Residential Property Advance Scheme {GEMVAS} headquarter or any GEMVAS Branches near you for the application process for the Residential Property Advance Scheme. {See address details below}.
2. Collect 5 copies of the Application for motor vehicle advance form from the GEMVAS service desk or use this link to download Link
3. Submit the completed forms attached with the relevant supporting documents to the GEMVAS service consultants to be verification.
4. The consultant will then verify that all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, before submitting the application file to department responsible for the evaluation and processing the applications.
5. If the loan is approved, beneficiaries will be registered to the scheme and notified of the outcome by a GEMVAS agent by phone or mail and the participating/beneficiary Bank will be disburse with the funds.

Need for the Document

• The Government Employees Motor Vehicle and Residential Property Advance Scheme (GEMVAS) was established in 1988 under Section seven (7) of the General Orders. The Scheme is made possible by and through the provision of an 80% guarantee, by the Government of Botswana to participating lenders.
• The guarantee provides security against default by borrowers and salary deductions are done at source.
