Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. One should contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Immigration and Citizenship Head Office for more information on how to file the application.
2. Accurately fill in the application form which can be obtain from the offices (listed below) and attach all the required documents.
3. Diplomats, Diamond Sector and Botswana Investment and Trade Centre employees should submit their application at theMigration and VISA Express Desk Office the rest should submit their application at the counter at the immigration office for verification and processing.
4. Pay the application fee.
5. If the authorized officer is satisfied that you have complied with the all conditions as set for the application of the certificate you will be notified by phone ,on when and where you should came to collect your certificate.

Required Documents

Requirements applicable to all persons

• One certified copy of Passport
• Two recent passport sized photos.
  
  

Principal applicant:

• Copy of employment contract
• Covering letter from the employer/supporter
• Copies of registration with Medical Council (Blue card and Botswana Health Professionals Council Certificate) for health professionals
• Covering letter from diamond hub (for employees working in the Diamond Sector).
• Covering letter from foreign affairs (for Diplomats)
• Diplomatic card (for Diplomats).
  
  

Dependents:

• Covering letter from the supporter/principal applicant for each dependent.
• Certified Copies of passport (both and dependents)
• One certified copy of marriage certificate for spouse.
• Copy of principal applicant’s permit/exemption certificate
• Birth Certificate for children.
• Admission letters from school for children
• Copies of stamps showing date of entry in Botswana for first-time application.

Eligibility

Non-citizens who have been exempted from obtaining work and residence permits are eligible for this service.

• Non- Citizens employed by the government and parastatals
  • Diplomats
  • Employees holding specializations required by private companies
  • Dependents of those persons mentioned above.
    

• Members of the classes of persons specified in the Act holding the following positions
  • Chief Executive Officer
  • Production Manager
  • Technical Manager
  • Operations Manager
  • Sales and Marketing Manager
  • Financial Manager
  • Head of Risk Management

Fees

Please consult with the immigration department about the payment process

• This service costs BWP3000.00 for the principal applicant and BWP1500.00 for each dependent.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.
