Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. All applications for Driving School Permit or License are filed and process at the Department of Road Transport and Safety office {DRTS} office, which is under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, (View address/contact details below).
2. Collect the Application form for Driving School Permit available at the inquiries desk at the Department of Road Transport and Safety Offices across the country or use this link to download, Link
3. Read through the instruction section carefully and fill all sections that are to be filled by the applicant accurately, if you require any assistance when filling the form or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact/or ask your nearest DRTS Officer for assistance.

   • Note; Additional information may be given on a separate sheet of paper if there is insufficient room on the application form.

4. Submit the completed form, along with the attachments (mentioned below under the ‘Required Documents’ section) to the Registration and Licensing Officer at any Department of Road Transport and Safety permit-issuing office for approval.
5. The official will then verify, if all the necessary information and documents have been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria, if everything is in order, you (the applicant) will be advised to pay for the application fee (non-refundable) to the Registration and licensing officer and obtain a payment receipt.
6. The application file will then be forwarded to the officer responsible for evaluation, processing, and consideration.
7. If the authorized official is satisfied that all the conditions as set for the application have been met, he/she will be approved the application and the Driving School Permit/license will be signed, stamped by him/her, and made available for withdrawal by the applicant against his/her identification document and the payment receipt.

Required Documents

• Certified copy of valid national ID card of applicant and/or owner (Omang for citizens).
• Accreditation Certificate of driving school (issued by local Accreditation Authority) and programme.
• Certified copy of Company Registration Certificate (issued by Registrar of Companies).
• A resolution from the board of Directors, where the applicant is a company.
• Consent of the Majority of the Partners, where the applicant is a Partnership.
• Road Worthiness Certificate(s) of Training Vehicle(s).
• An inspection report by a local authority.
• List of certified and accredited driving school instructors.
